The arrival of in-game downloadable content on Steam was announced yesterday on their news feed.  This gives developers and publishers the ability to sell additional content to gamers.  Many PC gamers will argue that these types of content updates (maps, skins, models, characters etc)  should be free since most have been in the past.  There is really no difference however between DLC and expansion packs as long as the content is fairly priced for the value it adds to the game.

Steam news has announced that the Dawn of War 2 multiplayer beta, starting January 28th, will be hosted on Steam.  People who have already bought Dawn of War: Soulstorm can get into the beta early, specifically on January 21st.

The World of Goo Demo offers about 30 minutes of content and is definitely worth a download if you're into puzzle games. 

The main gameplay mechanic is you start out with a small goo structure made of nodes and bars connecting the nodes, sort of like a tooth pick bridge in high school physics class.  Except the connecting bars are made of goo instead of tooth picks.  Goo has an elastic property, so your goo structures will bend and sway rather than snapping.  To expand your structure, click and drag a goo node, you have a limited number of them, and let it go where you want.  The new node has to be within a certain distance of two other nodes.

Fallout 3 is my favorite for RPG of the year.  It's a major accomplishment for Bethesda to take a hardcore classic PC game and adapt it to modern consoles without alienating fans of the series.  Old schoolers and newcomers will enjoy the intriguing setting, deep character customization, and open world freedom.
